This post is part of Mashable’s Spark of Genius series, which highlights a unique feature of startups. If you would like to have your startup considered for inclusion, please see the details here. The series is made possible by Microsoft BizSpark.

Name: AppSnap

Quick Pitch: AppSnap lets you install any iPhone app by taking a picture of its icon, allowing easy app sharing between iPhone users.

Genius Idea: Let’s face it, most of us would prefer to take the path of least resistance whenever possible, especially when it comes to downloading and sharing iPhone apps.

Enter AppSnap, a $1.99 app that eliminates the effort required to find or share iPhone applications (iPad/iPod app icons work, too) with IRL or online friends.

AppSnap is essentially just a camera app with a lens zoomed into Apple’s App Store. Simply snap a photo of the application icon in question — just make sure to line it up as directed — and AppSnap will scan it and return a list of matching apps (in testing it proved to be extremely accurate). Users can then share the app via e-mail, Twitter or Facebook or install it for themselves.

As meta as it may be to use an app to share or install other apps, it’s actually quite convenient. The lazy man or woman (aren’t we all?) can now just snap to send or download, no complicated iTunes URLs to bother with. AppSnap might also make collecting apps as you browse online reviews a more laissez-faire task.
