Betty White appeared on SNL tonight — the result of an unprecedented Facebook campaign to have the Golden Girls star host the show.
The Facebook page Betty White to Host SNL (please?)! launched in December 2009, gathering more than 500,000 fans and a great deal of media attention.
Spotting the opportunity for online buzz, NBC not only agreed to have the White host the show, but released a series of promo videos to tease the appearance to web viewers.
In her most memorable sketch of the night, White appeared in an NPR-themed sketch about baked goods (embedded below).
