It’s time once again for a new edition of our long-running Faceoff Series, in which we pit two competing devices, services, or trends against each other to see which has captured the hearts and minds of Mashable readers.

Last week we learned that the majority of you miss being “fans” on Facebook, and this week we want to find out your thoughts on what is still a controversial topic in the mobile arena: which is better, a physical QWERTY or a virtual keyboard?

It was arguably the advent of the iPhone that ushered in the debate, with many phone aficionados proclaiming they’d never part with their tactile mobile keyboards. Several years on and we’re drowning in touchscreens and virtual keyboards from numerous companies besides Apple, but legions of Droid, BlackBerry, Palm Pre and Pixi owners and more are still rocking those actual keys.

So at the end of the day, which do you prefer? Is an actual QWERTY keyboard still the best mobile typing experience? Have virtual keyboards caught up? Or are the screen real estate tradeoffs afforded by the latter worth the extra virtual keyboard learning curve? Let us know your vote in the poll below by Friday afternoon, May 21 at 3pm PST — and be sure to also leave us a comment with the reasoning behind your vote.
